This relaxing and creative one-day workshop is perfect for anyone interested in Korean culture, art, and mindful making. No previous art experience is required — just come and enjoy the process!

✨ What is Najeon chilgi?

Najeon (나전) is a traditional Korean craft using delicate pieces of natural mother-of-pearl.

Each piece catches the light differently, creating beautiful colours and patterns that seem to change as you move.

Fine-line cutting

Hair-thin strips of shell are laid one by one to draw stems, outlines and patterns.

Fret-saw shapes

Motifs such as flowers, cranes and leaves are sawn from the shell and pressed into place.

Shell flakes

Crushed shell is scattered like stardust to add sparkle, depth and movement.
